S23 E15 – What to Watch for with High Point Brand Ambassador Jackie Von Tobel and Thriving as a Small Design Firm with Jonathan Berger

Today’s episode of The Chaise Lounge is a double header. Nick’s two guests are High Point Market’s Brand Ambassador Jackie Von Tobel and New York/ California/ New Mexico designer Jonathan Berger.

Jackie Von Tobel is a designer who brands herself as colorful, classy, cool. She and Nick talk about what to look forward to at Fall High Point Market and the value of going to markets and experiencing the breadth of all the products the industry has to offer.

Jonathan Berger tells Nick about his design journey from Pasadena, California to all over the world. Berger feeds his creativity by revisiting his love for antiques at fairs all over Europe and the U.S.

Make sure to visit both these designers at their websites JackieVonTobel.com and JohnathanBergerInteriorDesign.com

If you’re going to High Point Market, make sure to keep an eye out for the fuschia-shirted High Point Paparazzi and remember to get photos from them throughout Market.

Social media plays a big part in that these days, as does making regular visits to the design markets and taking part in speaking opportunities. It is vital for anyone producing signature collections to be visible at market

S21 E1 – Biker Architecture and Design with Massimo Minale

Kitchen design using Buster + Punch lights and handles

Buster + Punch's physical store in London's Shoreditch neighborhood

Welcome back to The Chaise Lounge. In the first episode of season 21, Nick talks to Stockholm-based, London-born designer Massimo Minale, founder of Buster + Punch a home fashion and custom motorcycle company that he started as a way to feel more creatively fulfilled after days of putting effort into architecture projects he might never see turn into a building.

After making bikes for such clients as Keith Richards, Minale found himself getting requests for furniture that matched the aesthetic of the bikes, resulting in The Rockstar Bar. From there, Buster + Punch moved toward making fashionable home products that were just a step up from the local hardware store without being ludicrously expensive. As an architect, Minale was often frustrated by the process of sourcing pieces both liked and was happy budgeting for. So Buster + Punch launched a line of fashion light switches consumers and designers could be excited to use and be happy to pay for.

To see more of what Buster + Punch is doing, visit busterandpunch.us or busterandpunch.com and follow on Instagram @busterandpunch to see how the products look in action and the anouncement of new products.

My original goal was to get people interested in interiors that never thought they would be interested in interiors.
