Welcome to the final week of the Chaise Lounge season 23. The first designer who will usher the season into High Point weekend is Michele Plachter, principal of Michele Plachter Design in Philadelphia. Plachter tells Nick about how she uses video to market her business and they get into all the ways that business owners can stay out of legal trouble by knowing what their liabilities and responsibilities are.
Plachter was a creative, unconventional child with more conventional parents. She wanted to sing or dance or make stuff as a kid, but she went to college for general liberal arts because her parents insisted she go get some kind of degree. After that, she spent almost a decade in various corporate jobs at places like Xerox. But she was introduced to the career possibilities in interiors when she discovered there was money to be made my buying, renovating and reselling houses.
The more houses she flipped, the better her sense for rooms became, and she was eventually able to make money by just making rooms good, whether or not all the walls in a room were physically present at the time she was feeling it out. So she became a designer.
Now, Michele Plachter Design is a three-person, full-service design firm billed as “Philadelphia’s Luxury Design Specialist.” And you can visit MichelePlachter.com and @micheleplachterdesign on Instagram to see the work Michelle Plachter and her designers do.
