Welcome! Today in The Lounge, Nick sits down with both Bria Hammel and Justin Riordan of Spade and Archer. Nick and Bria focus on the trivialities of managing teams and finding the work-life balance. Justin and Nick discuss a variety of topics including cheerleading, drawing floor plans, and of course, everything that home staging encapsulates.

A Bit About Bria

Bria Hammel, from St. Paul Minnesota, is an interior design entrepreneur managing her own full-service firm. She attended the University of Kansas for a business degree to become a fashion buyer but eventually made the switch into interior design. Her Kansas City tech school education was very skill based, and allowed her to jump into the workforce. Bria then became a designer for Ethan Allen following finishing her courses. In her five years, there, she became comfortable managing a team. With Ethan Allen, she learned how to sell, run a business and found confidence – all aiding her journey into becoming a business owner.

Spade and Archer

Justin Riordan, based in Seattle is a west coaster through and through. Though he attended school in Hawaii and lived for a brief time in San Francisco early in his career, he made his way back to the Pacific Northwest. Like many in the industry, as a child, he redesigned his home and even the homes of his neighbors. His love of designing houses and draw floor plans for fun led him to earn a Bachelor’s of Architecture. After finishing school, he began contracting and home staging. With locations in Portland and Seattle, Spade and Archer always has many projects going on. With Nick, Justin shares the technicalities of home staging and shares the mistakes he made early on.
