Welcome! Today in The Lounge, Nick sits down with Shelley Cekirge of Shelley Cekirge Interiors and Doug Rassi from Polywood. Shelley is an incredibly fascinating designer to listen to and an artist with a background in theater and painting.
Polywood Outdoor
Doug is primarily based in Indiana — the birthplace of Polywood. With humble beginnings inspired by the ‘Keep America Beautiful’ Campaign, Polywood outdoor furniture is made from recycled milk jugs. In his free time, Doug likes to spend time at the lake with his family.
Get to Know Shelley
Shelley got her start in design after studying theater in both undergraduate and graduate school. She says creativity comes from inside, yet can be nourished in many ways. Her education background, though not interior design focused, inspires her practice. Light design and painting taught her skills necessary for designing spaces. Shelley’s portfolio is a testament to natural talent.
She mostly focuses on luxury residential and commercial projects. Although, after bumping into an old friend working in retail, Shelley decided she’d like to dabble in the area. The dramatic differences between projects and opportunities for collaboration excite her and keep the business moving forward.
Find Polywood furniture on polywoodoutdoor.com. Learn more about Shelley at her website, www.shelleycekirge.com/ or on Instagram, @shelley.cekirge!
Every client has a totally different style, every space has a different thing that's unique, and every project is a little art project.
