Welcome back! Today in The Lounge, Nick chats with Laura Muller, CEO of Four Point Design Build. The two chat about what it means to be a CEO & designer, education, and networking. This is an exciting episode to listen to for inspiration to step up your business!
Get to Know Laura
A west-coaster, born and raised, and jeans and t-shirt kind of gal, Laura is the Four Point Design Build conductor, alongside her husband, Cliff. She loves the process of production, building a show, and managing multidimensional skills to create a great final project. Being in the theater in her younger years now allows her to understand what needs to happen in a space. She skipped between different platforms of production throughout her early career but always found herself interested in design. Laura flipped her first house at age 21 and has now been in the field for over 30 years.
Four Point Design Build
Four Point Design Build is luxury interior design and building firm. Offering full turnkey services, the firm manages everything from branding and construction to holding a client’s hand while walking into a completed space. They specialize not only in residential, but restaurants, multifamily, and small projects as well. Everyone at the firm makes vital contributions from Cliff, Lead Construction Consultant, to the designers on the team, and student interns.
Laura and her husband completed master’s degrees at UCLA in interior design. There, she was able to gather the skills needed to work the field more professionally and met her business partner, now husband. In school, she earned the credentials that now separate her in the field. Of her prior interior design knowledge, there were missing pieces that were answered in school! She now credits much of her knowledge and success to formal education.
