Is it weird that Nick May, your host, is not an interior designer? Well, it shouldn’t be. Tom Brokaw interviews people all the time, and he is not a firefighter, a head of state, or a convicted criminal. So, I guess you could think of Nick as Tom Brokaw… but better, because he knows a thing or two about the topics we discuss: business and interior design. Nick has been in and around businesses and interior spaces for over 18 years and has worked with a few good designers and lots of bad ones. Don’t get us wrong, most of them were great people, but many of them were a mess when it came to running a business. Nick may not have all the answers for design, however, what he does know a lot about is building a business: building systems, marketing, managing employees, and sales. These are all topics that many interior designers need help with, and this is why he started The Chaise Lounge.
Becca Blaustein – Marketing and Communications
Here in The Lounge, Becca is in charge of ‘all things podcast’ from marketing, production, branding, graphic design, social media, all the way to managing our interns. Her background is in art and design but that didn’t stop her from diving headfirst into the unfamiliar worlds of business, marketing, interiors, and podcasting. Her creative mind and desire to learn keep her pushing forward through the many challenges that come her way. Growing up in a small, coastal, New England town, Becca has now been in Denver for 5 years and doesn’t plan to leave the mountains and sunshine anytime soon! Brett Badostain – Producer
Brett is a recent transplant to Denver. He grew up in Boise, Idaho and does, in fact, love potatoes. Brett has been involved in podcasting in one way or another since 2010, but truly found his calling when he became a producer for The Chaise Lounge. In his spare time, Brett enjoys spending time with his family, reading, listening to music, and cooking. Brett’s “Yes Man” attitude makes him a positive and lively addition to The Chaise Lounge Team. Catherine Hersacher – Recruiter
“Bespoke: Custom by Definition.” In 2012, after 14 years in the industry, Catherine Hersacher opened her own firm with this concept of truly custom work in mind. A project completed by Bespoke Fine Interiors should reflect the clients as much as their clothing and personal accessories do. Catherine believes it would be easier to be a designer known for a specific design “look”. However, her interest is in discovering the unique tastes each client has to find a style that makes them feel the most comfortable and happy in their own spaces. She brings this philosophy to all of her projects; Residential, Commercial and Hospitality. With an undergraduate degree in architecture, Catherine is able to knowledgeably take on projects from the ground up and shepherd them through successful completion! Here in The Lounge, Catherine seeks out spectacular designers each week to provide YOU unique and engaging content.
McKenna Heck – Intern
McKenna is our very first TCL intern. She is an interior design student at the University of Wisconsin-Stout on the verge of graduation. Her infectious personality and positive attitude allowed her to fit right into the team seamlessly. McKenna worked remotely from Texas while she pursued a summer interior design program and then continued her internship as she started back up her senior year. McKenna is very hard working and during her time accomplished a published research-based article and conducted interviews with a few of our most successful designers. You can find her work here. McKenna is currently seeking an entry-level interior design position to begin when she graduates in December 2017 and is willing to relocate.

Megan is a Colorado native who enjoys skiing, hiking, and most other “Colorado” activities. While her schoolwork keeps her busy most days, she finds time to hang out with her boyfriend and sister, play video games, read fantasy books, and do yoga with her dog. One day, she hopes to have her name on the cover of a bestselling fiction novel. Megan is a writing intern in The Lounge where she creates our show notes each week and runs our Pinterest.

Dayna Hairston holds a Master’s Degree in Interior Design from Florida International University in Miami, FL. She is an NCIDQ Certified Designer and LEED Accredited Professional with 8 years of professional experience in commercial and residential projects. Phyllis Harbinger – Guest Speaker
Phyllis Harbinger is a monthly guest speaker in The Lounge to talk:Industry. Phyllis is NCIDQ certified, a professional member of the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID), and served as president of the NY Metro Chapter. She is currently serving on the national level as Chair-Elect of the Chapter Support Team and is also a tenured Adjunct Assistant Professor at the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) in New York City. Additionally, Phyllis is a Certified Feng Shui Practitioner, which enables her to integrate Eastern methods and theories of design and balance into her practice. Phyllis opened her firm, Design Concepts/Interiors, LLC, in 1993 servicing both commercial and residential clients worldwide. She is as comfortable working on a suburban residence, as on a sleek, modern city apartment dwelling, condo lobby or jewelry boutique. In fact, the combination of commercial and residential projects, along with the variety of locales and clients’ styles, creates a spark that fuels her creativity and passion. As a direct result of the success of her book, The Interior Design Productivity Toolbox Phyllis and her team launched Harbinger Design Consulting, to further her work with the design community, consulting with entrepreneurs and providing a unique set of tools with which they can grow and manage their firms.
